First Beach trip of the year

This past week Tristan and I took our first trip of the season to Ocean City. We've all been talking about going but have been sort of busy lately! My friend, Nancy, from college was there for a long weekend with some of her family and so Tristan and I drove out for the day to join them. At first Tristan was terrified of the water but I made him go in anyway so he could see it wasn't that bad! He cried and bit and then we went back up the beach to play in the sand. Not even 5 minutes later he was pointing at the Ocean repeating "I want dat, I want dat" over and over! So, we went back and this time it was much better. He had a really good time jumping over waves (well, with a little help from Mummy). He then of course wanted to stay in the water as long as possible. The water was pretty cold but it felt good as it was a really hot day.

I didn't get any pictures of Tristan in the water because I was too busy hanging on to him to make sure he didn't float out to sea! Maybe next time when the ratio is 2 parents to 1 child I will be able to get some!! I'll try to get some better pictures next time we go as I'm sure it won't be that far in the future. Tristan is already saying that he wants to take Daddy to the beach.

Tristan did really well all day considering that he didn't get a nap as he usually does. Needless to say on the way home we had hardly driven over the bridge that crosses the inlet before he was out like a light! Tired out from all the sun and fresh sea air! This picture I took at a traffic light probably not even 3 miles into the trip home!!

On a not so related topic, Tristan is talking up a storm! He is learning new words at the rate of about 5-6 a day! While we were at the beach he learned 'beach' , 'ocean' , 'water' , 'seagull' , 'dig' , 'sand' and 'sandy'. He also remembered Nancy's husband, Matt, right away and would look for him and point and say "Matt" as Matt was body boarding in the ocean. He wasn't brave enough to sit on the board though, maybe next time!
