Hayden Alexander

Well, it's been a few days since we came home, I think it has only been 3 sleepless nights so far! I've wanted to post earlier but, well... I'm sure you know we've been busy!

Hayden Alexander or as Tristan calls him "Baby Hayden Zander" was born on Monday October 13th at 3:24pm. He weighed 6 pounds 9 oz, only 3 oz more than Tristan. He was 19 inches long, another little one! I guess I grow them that way.

So, here's the story...

Tristan woke up in the morning on Monday at about 4:15am and I went in to settle him down and put him back to sleep. This has become a regular occurrence so you can pray for us there! Anyway, I went to the bathroom before heading back to bed and that's when my water broke. No warning or any contractions beforehand, just like last time! I figured it was going to be a while but I woke Chris up to let him know. So, after a while we got showered and ready and then about 7:30 we called our neighbors, Jen adn Dan, to arrange for Tristan to go there... Still no real contractions. So at about 9am I called the OB office to ask what to do and they said I could either wait to go into labor or come in and get induced by pitocin. So, obviously I picked to go in! Who wants to wait around, especially when you have a toddler at the babysitter!

We got to the hospital around 9:30 and they took us right to a room. Got the pitocin started and by about noon I was ready for the epidural that I was trying so hard to go without! We had to wait about 90 mins for the anesthesiologist who was helping with a C-section. By the time he came I was really happy to see him! Then I was much more comfortable and when they checked me again at about 3:15 I was fully dilated and ready to push. 3 pushes and he was out! So, it was a pretty easy labor all around.

After they moved us to the mother and baby floor, which I was pleased to learn recently became all private rooms, Chris went home to get Tristan. They came back to visit for a while. Tristan was so good but not terribly interested in seeing the baby!

When it came to be time to go home Tristan was fascinated with the car-seat. Probably because he's seen it around and has been putting his baby in it!

So, we have been home a few days and have already started the battle with jaundice! We've been there before so we know what to expect. Hayden seems to be a much better eater than Tristan at this age and so hopefully he is gaining more weight. We will find out when we go back to the pediatrician next Friday.

I am happy to say that Hayden loves the swing, something that Tristan would never tolerate! So far he's pretty easy going and does not demand to be held all the time, though he's so cute, who wouldn't want to hold him anyway!

Well, I think that since they are both sleeping I am supposed to be doing the same! Chris has been great at helping with everything (except the feeding, and that's not his fault)! We are very blessed to have such a beautiful family.

I will try and get some more pictures of Tristan and Hayden posted this week, as time allows!

So glad to see you're up to blogging and that your labor was pretty easy. Let us know if you need anything. Hopefully, we'll see you tomorrow.
