There were some good parts though...
- I actually enjoyed being in Wal-Mart to do groceries this morning because it felt nice and cool
- folding laundry was irritating because the laundry was hot on top of it all but it made me appreciate that it's not always like this!
- Tristan and I came home from grocery shopping and had lunch and he went to sleep fairly easily in his oven, I mean bedroom. His room is on the sunny side of the house during the day and when you factor in the closed curtains for darkness it can get really warm in there.
- He woke up miserable after about an hour of sleep! So, I stripped him down to a diaper and we sat in Mummy and Daddy's bed and watched a few episodes of Thomas. I did get lots of extra cuddles as he calmed himself down.
- Once it was clear that no-one was going to come today to service the HVAC we figured there was no reason to stay at home and sweat and so we went to the mall where it was much cooler! Tristan had a great time playing at the play-place
- I FINALLY found some comfy maternity sweat pants to wear in the hospital and I'm sure for a few weeks when I come home and can't bear the thought of leaving the house with 2 children!!! I've been looking for ages and was starting to wonder who all these women were who were buying such formal maternity clothes and never wearing anything suitable to relax in...
- I didn't have to cook dinner because I thought that having the dryer running was creating enough heat and I certainly wasn't going to turn the stove on so we brought home Chick-fil-a for dinner for us all
- I didn't do a whole lot of cleaning and tidying once Tristan was in bed because it was too hot and I didn't feel like it!
So, all in all there were some good things about today!
This weekend Chris put this bike-seat on his bike. We got it from some good friends of ours and Tristan seemed to really enjoy his first ride on it.
Tristan has also recently started to catch on to the idea of praying, at least as much as you can when your only just about to turn 2 I suppose! He has heard us praying at mealtimes for a while but only recently remembers that it's something that we do! He will ask to pray when he sits in his chair which is really cute!
We've also started praying at bed-time which I wasn't really consistent with until the past couple of weeks. We've always talked about all the good things about the day and about the things we will do the next day as a way to wind down for bed so it just came easily to start praying with him. He's so funny because once we pray and give thanks for all the good things of the day and any other things that are going on the next day I always ask him what he wants to pray for and the last few nights his response has been "shoes"!!! We have been having trouble finding some nice and affordable shoes for Fall but I'd never thought to pray about it. Such is the faith of a child I guess! Anyway, today we were out at Kohl's and we found him some shoes! So, I guess God answers even the prayers of a small child for such a trivial request! So, tonight when I asked him what else he wanted to pray for, sure enough, he said "shoes"!!! Try explaining the concept of not asking for more than we need to a 2 year old! I just told him that God answered that prayer already but I'm sure he'll be asking for more shoes tomorrow night!
He's also figured out that I will stay with him while he's praying and so when I tell him that I am about to say good night and go to bed myself he very cutely puts his hands together and says "I want to pray again" Is it right to tell him that we've prayed enough for today?! Can we really ever pray enough for today? I guess I will have to teach him that he can pray by himself while he falls asleep, although I'm sure he's doing it more to get me to stay than because he really wants to keep praying!!!
Personally, for tonight, I am not going to pray for shoes but rather that the HVAC man would be able to fix the problem and have the A/C up and running again before nap-time tomorrow! I do have lots to get done and I'd love to do it in a cool house! So, feel free to send some prayers up on our behalf...
