Tristan is 2!!!

TRISTAN IS 2 TODAY!!!

It's hard to believe that 2 years have gone so quickly, but, sure enough Tristan turned 2 and he was no more terrible today than he was yesterday! We started the day with balloons and presents which was obviously much more exciting than breakfast...

...that is, until he realized that we were having chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast and then he decided that it would be OK to take a break from presents to eat such a treat!!!

Here he is opening one of his many trains!

We made him a board on which to build his train tracks... after he had opened a few presents, it was clear that the board was not big enough and so Chris went back to Lowe's to get another one! He attached them with a hinge and we can fold it in half and it still slides under the couch which is great because we don't have the space for a real train table! So, tonight after he went to bed we painted the other half so it's ready for tomorrow!!!

Here you can see that half the board is painted and the other half isn't!!!

(The grown-ups had as much fun building the train tracks as Tristan did!)

Tristan was not thrilled about having to take a nap today! He really did not want to go to sleep; I think that he was concerned that the trains would be gone when he woke up! He did finally fall asleep which was a good thing because that was when I had planned on decorating his Thomas cake which he has been talking about for ages! I think that it came out pretty well...

This year he was actually allowed frosting on his cake, unlike last year! He really loved it. We kept it clean by helping him use a fork!!! I'm no dummy...

Here he is enjoying his new trains and he seems to really like to say Clarabel...

Well, it's been a great two years and we are really blessed to have such a sweet and loving little boy. It's amazing how life can change in only a couple of years and we are looking forward to more changes over the next couple of weeks... We'll keep you posted on our next "birth-day" celebration...

Happy Birthday, Tristan! Sorry this is so late. How did you like your cake? The icing was pretty good, wasn't it?! It's nice that your mommy let you have some this year! I can't wait until I can have cake and icing again...I haven't had it since my birthday party. I hope I get to see you again soon!
